IMPORTANCE OF HYDRATION
Tip from Cara Linda

Water Hydration
Water plays an important role in the overall health of the human body.  More than simply quenching our thirst, water also provides much needed hydration to our cells.  The skin is no exception.  Hydration is responsible for removing toxins, transporting nutrients, regulating body temperature and protecting tissues.  Hydration is essential to the proper functioning of the skin as a whole, but especially the stratum corneum (SC), the outermost layer of the skin.  The retention of moisture within the SC relies on the presence of agents to attract and bind moisture and intercellular lipids in the SC and topical occlusive agents to act as barriers that reduce water loss.

Skin Hydration
Winter brings significant changes in wind, temperature and humidity levels.  After enduring months of drier weather, the skin craves water hydration, and although cream moisturizers will provide some relief, the most effective products will increase water content, both on the skin’s surface and inside the cells.  Hydrating serums contain humectants such as hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 hydrate the stratum corneum along with other ingredients proven to penetrate into the cell to provide unsurpassed hydration.  No matter the amount of oil produced, all skin types benefit greatly from water moisture, which prevents the over-production of sebum in oily skin and adds much-needed hydration in drier skin.  Furthermore, protecting the skin from dehydration minimizes the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging.
So, make sure to drink plenty of water and treat your skin daily with a hydrating serum to keep skins moisture level, and overall health, at it optimum.
