Collagen Magic

I have found it!  The best mask I have used since I became an esthetician.  WOW, the results are so amazing that I know this is something my clients will love and continue to ask for.  Wet collagen masks are highly effective and show immediate results.  Clients can feel the hydrating effect when the mask is applied and see the results immediately when the mask is removed.  These gel-like fiber masks are made with very potent ingredients and can address specific problems like dryness and dehydration.  Estheticians cannot increase collagen in the lower dermal layer of the skin with products during a treatment, so we work to create a smoother hydrated surface in the epidermal top layer of the skin.  This makes fines lines and wrinkles less obvious and skin texture younger and brighter looking.

So, what is Collagen anyway and what can I do to help my skin retain it?

Collagen is a tough almost rubbery protein found in all parts of the body, and with Elastin is responsible for the elasticity and strength of the skin.  Collagen acts as scaffolding holding up the skin and keeping it smooth and wrinkle-free.  The sun, pollution, free radicals and smoke are some of the things responsible for disintegrating collagen.  The body is constantly creating new collagen to repair what’s been damaged but around age 35 collagen production naturally begins to taper and the quality of the collagen diminishes, as well. 

Products That Help

Ingredients like peptides (that speed healing), retinols (that stimulate new cells to be made) and growth factors (that repair damaged collagen) are used in many products.  Simply rubbing collagen-containing creams on the skin is worthless though because the molecules are too large to be absorbed by the skin and they would be broken down by the body almost immediately.  That is why ingredients that rev-up collagen production are a better choice.  On average, it takes 3-4 weeks to see the effects and within 3 months you should see dramatic results.  Of course the health and age of your skin may affect the results and if you stop using the product your skin will revert back and the results will not be maintained.  Diligence is the key and it is worth every bit.  I sell and use wonderful products contained these potent ingredients.

Treatments I Use

In my practice I have had great success with LED red light therapy that stimulates and increases collagen.  The LED tool emits a skin penetrating wavelength that triggers the fibroblast cells to reactivate collagen production.  You will see a noticeable difference in the tone and firmness of your skin after one or two treatments and realize its true benefits when
done on a regular basis.  Since the results are cumulative you're more likely to notice a difference in the tautness of your skin after a few months.

So, by protecting your skin from damaging elements and using collagen stimulating treatments and products you will keep your skin healthy and beautiful without resorting to painful injections, expensive laser treatments or invasive surgical procedures.  And I’m all for that!
